Portable Solar Power System Allows Life To Go On

When disaster strikes one of the first things to go is usually the electricity, which is needed for recovery as well as medical purposes. Without electricity, most businesses come to a halt and without backup generators, hospitals and emergency clinics come to a stand still. Additionally, without power tools rebuilding is difficult at best and in a real disaster, cell phones will lose their charge and can't be used. With a portable solar power system, electric needs can be met, even with some of the large demands.

From large units hauled around on trailers with several hundreds of square feet of solar panels to light weight panels that fit into a backpack, a portable solar power system can provide power for everything from operating power equipment and emergency systems to charging cell phones. They are also useful when hiking and electricity is unheard of, to be used for water purification and even running a small television or radio.

Depending on the size of the portable solar power system, it can also be used to provide refrigeration and heat during power outages or other emergencies. Disaster services often call upon the owners of a portable solar power system to help after a disaster such as major fire, flood or storm that takes out the power grid.

Services Do Not Have To End After Dark

Following many major disasters clean up efforts typically have to cease when the sun goes down due to the lack of light. With a large portable solar power system lights can be plugged in to help the relief effort continue after dark. Operating power equipment can help the rebuilding effort until the power grid is back online. Many cell phone operators use a portable solar power system to back up their towers to insure continued operation in the event of a power failure.

When on the trail hiking, many folks do not like carrying around the extra pounds required by batteries and find that a small portable solar power system can provide the electricity needed for small appliances. Keeping batteries charged is possible with a car adapter connected to the portable solar power system, especially designed for its use.

Many small appliances are designed to be operated by plugging them into the power outlet of a vehicle and most portable solar power systems are also equipped with this type of plug, meaning that just about everything that can by powered in a vehicle can be connected to a portable solar power system.
